For many of us, working from home has become the norm but it can be hard to stay focused and feel productive. Check out these 5 ways to help you feel more productive and focused while working from home.
1. Keep your morning routine – Set your alarm, brew a pot of coffee, get dressed. It is important to try and keep your routine, it will help you switch gears and prepare for the workday ahead.
2. Have a designated workspace – You may be lucky enough to have a spare bedroom to turn into a home office but if not, try using your kitchen table. Having a designated workspace will help you separate your work time from relaxation time.
3. Headphones – it is so important to be able to focus on your tasks for the day. A good pair of headphones can be helpful especially if you have a roommate and you are both trying to work from home.
4. Take clear breaks – Sometimes it is hard to take a break while you are working from home as it can feel like you are not entitled to one. Stepping away from your computer screen for 15 minutes is a great way to pause and reenergize.
5. Schedule your day – We know the workday can sometimes be unpredictable but scheduling your day or part of it, can help you focus and prioritize the tasks at hand. For example, you can schedule time in the morning to focus on bigger projects that may take up more time and leave the smaller/daily tasks for later in the day.

Looking to decorate for Halloween but not quite sure where to start? Check out these 5 last minute DIY Halloween decorating ideas.
- Wine Bottle Candlesticks – Before you throw away your wine bottle use it as a decoration! All you need is an empty wine bottle, a candle stick and some black spray paint! You’ll have your very own black flame candle! (Bonus points to anyone who can name that movie) These are sure to add a little extra spook to your home.
- Spiders and Halloween just seem to go together. Make your front door stand out with some spider webs and add some spiders to go along with it! Kangaroo’s Stretchy Spider web is our favorite to use.
- Candy wrapper pumpkins – Trick or treat? Show off your favorite candy by wrapping your pumpkins in candy wrappers! All you need is some Mod Podge and print outs of your favorite candy logo (a quick google search will take care of that).
- Pumpkin Candy Dispenser – pumpkins and candy are two Halloween staples. Try putting them together in this fun way. All you need is a pumpkin, glass bowl, and your favorite Halloween candy. First, trace the bottom of your bowl onto the side of your pumpkin, cut out the shape (you might need to make it a little larger), don’t forget to scoop out the pumpkin, and lastly, place the bowl into the hallowed out shape and fill with candy
- Bubbly Cauldron – This is sure to get your whole house in the holiday spirit. All you need is a cauldron or a large rounded dish from your kitchen and some dry ice.

A new season has begun and for many of us, that means it's time to reorganize! Or, if you're anything like me, finally get organized and maximize the space in your apartment home.
Here are 5 ways to maximize and organize your apartment home.
- Look under your bed! Under your bed is a great place to start your organization. You can start by buying containers and labeling them (your inner organization guru will scream with excitement). Or if you're looking for a whole new look, you can get a new bed frame with built-in storage! This is a great way to start getting yourself organized and maximize your bedroom space!
- Multipurpose side tables – This is a great tip for your bedroom or living room. Try looking for accent furniture that has drawers, this will allow you to organize and keep clutter to a minimum. Looking to maximize your space? Try floating furniture! You have the use of the furniture minus the clutter.
- Get a house plant. I know this doesn't really have anything to do with organizing or maximizing space but stay with me. With houseplants, you bring light to a room and automatically make the room seem bigger and brighter.
- Try vertical furniture. Instead of a bedside table, try a vertical shelf. Vertical furniture is great as it reduces clutter and elongates your space.
- Use every inch of your closet! Closet organizers are a great tool to tidy up and maximize the space in your closet. Plus, they do the organizing for you!

1. Pick a theme!
Now hear me out…don’t start rolling your eyes picturing an elaborate Gatsby-themed party with tuxedos and expensive shiny decorations everywhere (unless you are into that, then by all means, get to it!). Use a theme as a way to keep things organized and simplified for your guests. Let’s use two different example themes to get us through the rest of the list: “Breakfast for Dinner” and “Paris”.

2. Create the ultimate playlist!
Now that we have our themes, think about what music accompanies that aesthetic. “Breakfast for Dinner” – think coffee shop stations on Spotify, or your favorite 50s songs you would hear at a diner. “Paris” – maybe you only play music from French artists or soundtracks from your favorite movies that feature the French city!

3. Make it potluck style!
Don’t let all the food fall on you just because you are hosting. Stick with the theme and ask guests to contribute. “Breakfast for Dinner”, you’ll need coffee, fresh fruit, and maybe some fun pancake fixings. “Paris”, ask guests to bring baguettes, brie and French chocolate.

4. Opt for a signature drink!
Let guests know that you will have this signature drink on hand, that way you aren’t spending a million dollars picking up everyone’s favorite beverage and they can bring their own if they want something different! For “Breakfast for Dinner”, mix up some Irish coffee for everyone. For “Paris”, pick up a few bottles of your favorite champagne (add some fresh fruit in the glasses to spice things up!).

5. Utilize your community’s amenity space!
Apartment communities are equipped with the latest and greatest amenities, and Keva Flats is no exception. Maybe you want to spread out for your “Paris” dinner party, head to the entertaining kitchen and enjoy the great open space. Or after you enjoy your “Breakfast for Dinner” head out to the clubhouse to play pool and board games with your guests. The possibilities are endless!
I hope these tips help you realize that you are more than capable of hosting a dinner party at your apartment. Happy entertaining, and have fun!
